Sheila Simpson is the GrantsEdge Manager. Sheila spent 17 years with the Ontario Trillium Foundation, where she was responsible for managing the grant review process and meeting with grant applicants to support them in the application process. She’s passionate about community development, which has allowed her to help small kitchen table start-ups, large multi-site national organizations, and all organizations in between.
Sheila has reviewed thousands of grant applications and understands what funders look for when reviewing grants. Sheila applies that knowledge when analyzing grants for GrantsEdge Coach clients.
We require a minimum of one week to review your grant application. Please schedule your call with the GrantsEdge Coach at least one week from the date that you are registering for the session.
When can I connect with a GrantsEdge Coach?
You can connect with a GrantsEdge Coach once you have a draft of your proposal prepared. If you’re interested in your GrantsEdge Coach reviewing one particular section in detail, but not the rest of the grant, not a problem at all. Just send that section.
As you write grants, it’s often helpful to get feedback. While the GrantsEdge Coach won’t write the grant for you, you can leverage their experience to help you prepare the strongest proposal possible.
Why connect with a GrantsEdge Coach?
If getting more confident and more effective as a grant writer is something you’re interested in doing, a GrantsEdge Coach is exactly what you need.
If you want to receive feedback before you hit submit on your proposal, then getting input from a GrantsEdge Coach, someone with years of grant writing or funding experience, can help to improve your proposal.
Connecting with a GrantsEdge Coach will provide you with the opportunity for a one-on-one conversation and a chance to get your questions answered. We want to remove any ambiguity or confusion so that your grant is even stronger.
Why wouldn’t you connect with a GrantsEdge Coach?
There is one reason not to connect with a GrantsEdge Coach. If you are saying, “I got this” and feel like a GrantsEdge Coach would not be the most productive use of your time, then that’s great. It means you’ve mastered grant writing!
How much time do I get with the Coach?
Prior to each coaching session, you will send your grant to a GrantsEdge Coach. Your Coach will conduct a detailed review of your grant and prepare their questions and feedback prior to your coaching session.
Each GrantsEdge Coach session is 60 minutes and completed via phone or Skype. During the call, you will review the feedback on your grant together, and have time to ask any questions you may have.
Can I connect with a GrantsEdge Coach more than once?
Absolutely! We understand that questions arise and it can be helpful to speak with someone. Find a time that works for you, book it online, send us your proposal at least one week in advance, and have your questions ready to go.
